This starter forms the base of many of the signature breads and imparts a deep, natural flavor, superior texture, and improved digestibility.
Bürli were originally crafted in Swiss mountain villages, designed to be hearty, nourishing, and long-lasting. With a crusty exterior and an open, chewy crumb inside, they became a staple in both homes and Alpine inns—served warm, torn by hand, and enjoyed with cheese, butter, or cured meats.
